About the role
The Lab and Simulation Support Administrator provides essential support to lab and simulation staff, faculty, and students at UBC Okanagan's School of Nursing. Working part‑time (28.5 hours/week), the role ensures smooth operation of learning spaces and equipment for high‑quality, hands‑on education.
Key responsibilities
- Collaborate with the lab and simulation team, coordinator, practice placement coordinator, staff, faculty, and students to maintain a positive work environment.
- Assist the simulation coordinator in strategic planning for lab and simulation across programs.
- Order supplies, manage inventory, create purchase orders and reconcile credit‑card statements.
- Maintain databases, software, and programs; liaise with IT, AV, and other services for optimal equipment performance.
- Ensure data storage complies with privacy and security standards and manage access controls.
- Support scheduling of learning spaces, equipment, and personnel; establish clear priority‑access processes.
- Coordinate with external technical experts, maintain service agreements and warranties, and oversee equipment renewal.
- Manage set‑up, take‑down, cleanliness, visual inspections, and troubleshooting of lab and simulation equipment.
Required profile
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse academic and technical teams.
- High level of independence and initiative in day‑to‑day operations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Required skills
- Inventory management and supply ordering.
- Purchase order creation and credit‑card reconciliation.
- Database and software maintenance.
- Equipment troubleshooting and technical support.
- Knowledge of privacy and security standards for data handling.
