Junior Desktop and System Support Technician

About the role

The Junior Desktop and System Support Technician will ensure the stability and performance of our operating system server environment while providing day‑to‑day support for workstations and specialized equipment at a designated facility.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain OS server integrity and install system software upgrades, including planning, testing and coordination.
• Set up and administer workstations and servers, manage disk‑space planning, growth statistics and tape‑library inventories.
• Perform data backups, recoveries and maintain hardware/software inventories.
• Handle Service Desk tickets, troubleshoot desktop issues and act as the primary IT contact for the facility.
• Purchase and install software/hardware according to corporate standards and maintain licensing records.
• Install and maintain network‑attached equipment, anti‑virus, PC‑management tools and specialized systems such as MRP/ERP, time‑and‑attendance, QA equipment and door controllers.
• Administer the local phone system (paging, voicemail, moves‑adds‑changes) and prepare regular reports.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary education in Computer Science (preferred).
• Current Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) is an asset.
• Knowledge of ITIL and ITSM frameworks (preferred).
• Strong understanding of Windows Desktop OS, Microsoft Office and Dell hardware.
• Basic networking knowledge and data‑communications troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and follow equipment, policy and procedure manuals.
