About the role
This temporary position supports a not‑for‑profit residential organization by handling front‑desk duties, managing communications, and maintaining organized filing systems. The role offers a welcoming environment for members, staff, contractors, and vendors.
Key responsibilities
- Answer and direct phone calls and general office emails to the appropriate person.
- Ensure member inquiries are addressed promptly.
- Greet visitors, providing a positive and welcoming experience.
- Open and close the reception area, keeping it tidy.
- Distribute incoming mail, date‑stamp, and file member correspondence weekly.
- Maintain up‑to‑date paper and electronic filing systems, including member contact lists.
- Inform the bookkeeper of parking and locker changes.
Required profile
- Previous experience in a receptionist, administrative, or front‑desk role.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with housing co‑ops or non‑profit environments is an asset.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel).
- General office technology competence.
