Journeyman Plumber / Gas‑Fitter – Onsite Shift Work

About the role

This position is a shift‑work, onsite role at a remote, safety‑sensitive location. The successful candidate will perform plumbing and gas‑fitting tasks while adhering to strict safety and code requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Follow all workplace safety procedures and pass a pre‑employment drug test.
• Install, repair, and replace water lines using hand tools such as PEX cutters, drills, and screwdrivers.
• Use crimping tools for water‑line connections and operate forklifts, floor jacks, or dollies to move large fixtures.
• Install and service fixtures and appliances after rough‑in, including showers, toilets, urinals, sinks, hot‑water tanks, kitchen equipment, washers/dryers, dishwashers, furnaces, and air‑conditioning units.
• Utilise torches, pipe benders, manometers, threading machines, die heads, grinders, metal snips, and shears on a daily basis.
• Apply appropriate adhesives and sealants (ABS glue, PVC glue, pipe dope, flux, paint).
• Work in compliance with the Gas Code and Plumbing Code, pulling gas permits as required.
• Load, unload, and transport materials; maintain site equipment in optimal condition.
• Coordinate with the Area Superintendent and Maintenance Planner, complete paperwork promptly, and ensure site cleanliness and curb‑appeal.

Required profile

• Valid driver’s licence.
• High‑school education plus a Journeyman Certificate in Plumbing.
• Gas‑Fitter Technician certification.
• Minimum five years of hands‑on plumbing experience.
• Strong knowledge of applicable industry codes, standards, and regulations.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand and power tools: PEX cutter, drill, screwdriver, crimping tool.
• Forklift, floor jack, and dolly operation.
• Use of torches, pipe bender, manometer, threading machine, die heads, grinder, metal snips, shears.
• Application of ABS glue, PVC glue, pipe dope, flux, and paint.
• Gas Code and Plumbing Code compliance, permit pulling.
• Equipment maintenance and housekeeping.
