Journeyman Electrician

The Journeyman Electrician works on various sites around Edmonton, AB, reporting directly to the Site Supervisor, focusing on installation and maintenance of streetlights, power distribution and temporary power.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, test, and troubleshoot electrical equipment and electronic devices.
• Pull cable and wiring, and assist with the installation of pole bases, pull boxes, and streetlights.
• Provide lead direction for setting up, installing, and commissioning equipment at field sites.
• Read and interpret single‑line diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics, and construction drawings.
• Place conduit and install underground and overhead cables.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities in line with contractual requirements.
• Support scheduling, logistics, and quality performance monitoring as needed.

Required profile

• 4 + years experience as a ticketed journeyman electrician.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated change orientation, effective communication, continuous learning, and customer focus.
• Strong problem‑solving, teamwork, and accountability mindset.
• Commitment to safety, diversity, and professional standards.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of reading wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Proficiency operating electronic test equipment.
• Ability to work from aerial buckets and vehicle‑mounted aerial devices at heights of 3‑15 m.
• Fall protection and working‑at‑heights certification (CSTS).
• Red Seal Journeyman Electrician certification.
