IT Technician – Inuvik, Canadian Western Arctic

About the role
Webhorse Technologies is looking for an enthusiastic IT Technician to join its team in Inuvik, Canadian Western Arctic. You will provide end‑to‑end IT support while contributing to innovative projects that leverage emerging technologies in a unique, remote environment.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver day‑to‑day IT support across networking, endpoint administration, and Microsoft 365.
- Design, implement, and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and cybersecurity baseline controls.
- Install and maintain security cameras and other physical hardware.
- Develop and prototype internal projects, including drones, AI, mesh networks, IoT sensors, and data acquisition solutions.
- Collaborate with clients to draft quotes, provide training on basic computer skills and online safety, and ensure high‑quality customer service.
- Travel to isolated communities via prop planes or ice roads and participate in two‑month remote work periods in Asia each year.
Required profile
- Strong time‑management and teamwork abilities; capable of working independently.
- Excellent spoken and written English; able to produce clear documentation and present to small groups.
- Customer‑focused mindset with experience in client follow‑up and service delivery.
- Problem‑solving orientation, especially in automation and value‑driven solutions.
Required skills
- Networking (certification required)
- IT modernization and endpoint administration

- Automation, backup, and disaster recovery
- Operating systems: Windows (proficient), macOS and Linux (working knowledge)
- Remote Monitoring and Management tools (e.g., NinjaOne)
- Network management systems (e.g., Omada)
- Firewall management (e.g., SonicWall NSM)
- Endpoint security (e.g., SentinelOne)
- Professional Services Automation tools (e.g., Autotask)
- Interest/experience with drones, AI, mesh networks, IoT, sensor technology, data acquisition
