IT Program Manager - Insurance

About the role

Aviva Canada is looking for a highly motivated IT Program Manager in its insurance business unit, based in Markham. The role drives delivery in line with the organization's mandate and goals, supporting the team to achieve results within budget, schedule and scope. It suits someone with strong program and project management practice, business and technical competence, and leadership and collaboration skills.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the full project lifecycle to deliver the intended project outcome
• Manage stakeholder expectations, especially executives, and build strong relationships with clients, vendors and team members
• Develop integrated project plans covering scope, timelines, budget and resource allocation
• Lead project teams, including internal and external partners, and manage risk, scope and change requests with Business and Technology Partners
• Manage project finances: cost models, accruals and reconciliation, keeping the project within budget
• Ensure deliverables meet Aviva's quality standards, the Change Delivery Governance Framework and the Quality contract
• Proactively identify and resolve risks and issues, and communicate regularly with stakeholders

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
• At least 12 years of experience as a Program and Project Manager on large-budget (10M+) programs and complex, multi-year solutions
• Experience balancing Agile ways of working with governance requirements, and overseeing multiple projects within a program structure
• Experience under PMO governance and with executive stakeholders
• Insurance background and transformational program experience preferred

Required skills

• PMP certification (a must)
• Proficiency in MS Project, Microsoft Office, Teams and SharePoint
• JIRA and Confluence
• Knowledge of project management methodologies
