International Freight Forwarder (Air & Ocean)

About the role

The Manitoulin Group of Companies' international freight arm, MGF, is looking for an experienced, detail-oriented International Freight Forwarder to join its team in Canada. The role coordinates international air and ocean freight (import and export), ensures compliance with Canadian and international regulations and maintains high service levels. CargoWise proficiency is a strong asset.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate international air freight import and export shipments, including booking, documentation, customs clearance and final delivery.
• Manage ocean freight imports (FCL and LCL), including carrier bookings, container tracking and coordination with steamship lines and overseas agents.
• Prepare and process shipping documents such as commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading and airway bills.
• Ensure compliance with customs and trade regulations (CBSA, IATA, Transport Canada).
• Communicate with overseas agents, customers, customs brokers and carriers, and monitor shipments while keeping clients informed.
• Enter and maintain shipment data accurately in CargoWise for billing and reporting.
• Work with sales, customer service and finance, and stay current on freight trends, tariffs and trade regulations.

Required profile

• 1-2 years of experience in international freight forwarding (air and ocean, import and export); logistics experience is also valued.
• Post-secondary education in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related field is an asset.
• CIIFA or other industry-recognized certifications are an asset.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Required skills

• Knowledge of air cargo regulations, INCOTERMS and international trade documentation.
• Solid understanding of ocean freight, FCL and LCL processes.
• Familiarity with Canadian customs procedures and import/export compliance.
• Experience with CargoWise is a strong asset.
