About the role
Huawei Canada's Distributed Scheduling and Data Engine Lab is seeking an Intern Researcher to advance the evaluation of large-language-model (LLM) based agents. The role focuses on fundamental questions about context management, reasoning under uncertainty, and reliable behavior in long-horizon tasks, aiming to shape the next generation of trustworthy AI systems.
Key responsibilities
- Design and execute research experiments that assess the capabilities and limitations of LLM-based agents.
- Formulate complex research problems, develop theoretical frameworks, and produce publishable results.
- Develop principled methods and theoretical foundations for agent evaluation and autonomous reasoning.
Required profile
- Currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated research output such as publications, preprints, or workshop papers at top-tier venues.
- Solid foundation in machine learning and natural language processing fundamentals.
Required skills
- Machine learning and NLP fundamentals.
- Experience with LLM architectures, causal inference, counterfactual reasoning, formal methods, or neurosymbolic AI.
