Intermediate Software Engineer

About the role

PointClickCare, a privately held health technology company serving over 30,000 provider organizations, is hiring an Intermediate Software Engineer. The role is listed as hybrid (#LI-Hybrid) and requires living within commuting distance of the office, with in-office events such as onboarding, team events and semi-annual and annual meetings.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, prioritize and execute tasks across the software development life cycle
• Work with business stakeholders to iterate on software requirements
• Develop tools and applications with clean, efficient code
• Automate tasks with appropriate tools and scripting
• Analyze and debug systems, and perform validation and verification testing in a test-driven way
• Review the work of others and invite others to review your own work
• Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to fix and improve products
• Keep software up to date with the latest technologies

Required profile

• BSc/BA in Computer Science or a related degree
• Experience writing clean, scalable code and with Spring Boot
• Solid experience writing RESTful API endpoints
• Strong organization, critical thinking and personal leadership skills; self-starter who can deliver with minimal supervision
• Team player with an analytical mind and problem-solving aptitude

Required skills

• Java and Spring Boot
• Relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL
• TDD and Git
• System and performance monitoring tools such as New Relic and DataDog
• Automated testing frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress and RestAssured
• Generative AI code assistants (e.g. GitHub Copilot) are an asset

Bonus points for UI frameworks (React, Angular), Docker, Kubernetes, Istio, Ansible, Jenkins CI/CD, Linux, IP networking, AWS/Azure, SAML/OAuth/OpenID Connect, SaaS and SOA experience, Python/Bash/Groovy scripting, on-call experience and mentoring others.
