Intermediate Mechanical Engineer – Marine Projects

About the role

Vard Marine is seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to contribute to the design and analysis of specialized vessels. You will work on engineering calculations, HVAC systems, and propulsion arrangements while supporting project delivery for a global client base.

Key responsibilities

• Perform engineering calculations using empirical formulae from Classification Regulations and first‑principles methods.
• Conduct HVAC calculations in line with industry and marine standards.
• Prepare mechanical and diagrammatic drawing packages for submission to Classification Societies.
• Design propulsion driveline and shafting arrangements and run analyses with recognized software.
• Provide technical input to specifications and drawings, and carry out engineering studies and evaluations.
• Assist as Project Manager or Deputy on smaller projects, managing budgets, schedules and deliverables.
• Mentor junior staff and participate in cross‑functional technical groups.

Required profile

• Applied knowledge of marine engineering systems and equipment.
• Familiarity with Classification Society Rules and Flag State Regulations.
• Developed report‑writing abilities.
• Ability to manage project budgets, deadlines and coordinate schedules.
• Willingness to coach and collaborate within a team environment.

Required skills

• HVAC calculation expertise.
• Mechanical drawing preparation (CAD).
• Propulsion driveline and shafting analysis using recognized software.
• Knowledge of Classification Society Rules.
• Understanding of Flag State Regulations.
