About the role
The Senior Interior Designer will lead the creation of high‑quality hospitality and multi‑family residential interiors for a boutique studio operating in Toronto. You will guide projects from concept through construction, ensuring functional, aesthetic, and regulatory excellence within the Canadian context.
Key responsibilities
- Lead concept development, space planning, material selection, and FF&E direction for hospitality and residential projects.
- Produce compelling client presentations, design packages, and visual storytelling materials.
- Develop detailed documentation to support pricing, tendering, and construction phases.
- Coordinate interior design deliverables across concept, schematic, design development, tender, and construction documentation.
- Collaborate closely with architectural, MEP, lighting, and sustainability teams to ensure cohesive project delivery.
- Review and approve detailed drawings, millwork/joinery packages, finish schedules, and specifications.
- Conduct site visits, review shop drawings, and support contract administration to maintain design integrity.
- Manage project timelines, workflow, and deliverables to meet client and studio expectations.
- Serve as a primary client contact, building trust‑based relationships throughout the design and delivery process.
Required profile
- Extensive experience delivering interior design projects in the Canadian market, especially hospitality and multi‑family residential.
- Strong ability to lead multidisciplinary teams of architects, engineers, and consultants.
- Excellent client‑facing skills with confidence in presenting concepts to senior stakeholders.
- Proven track record of mentoring junior designers and maintaining design quality across all phases.
Required skills
- Proficiency in producing and reviewing interior design documentation, including detailed drawings, finish schedules and specifications.
- Knowledge of Canadian building codes and regulatory requirements for interior spaces.
- Ability to coordinate with architectural, MEP, lighting and sustainability disciplines.
- Experience conducting site visits, reviewing shop drawings and supporting contract administration.
