About the role
McGill Faculty of Law is seeking an experienced legal professional to teach the course “Judicial Institutions & Civil Procedure” in the Fall 2026 term. The instructor will lead Monday and Wednesday sessions, introducing students to the structure, values, and challenges of civil procedure in Canada and comparable jurisdictions.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver lectures and facilitate classroom discussions for the course schedule (Mon/Wed 09:35‑11:25).
- Prepare and update course materials, including case studies, readings, and assessment tools.
- Evaluate student performance through assignments, exams, and participation.
- Provide guidance on strategic and financial aspects of litigation and the broader judicial order.
- Collaborate with the Student Affairs Office on scheduling and any changes to class times.
Required profile
- A first degree in law (LL.B. or J.D.).
- Several years of significant legal practice or professional experience in civil procedure or related fields.
- Prior experience teaching undergraduate law students, preferably in a bilingual (English/French) environment.
