Instructor – AI in Legal Practice (Law 520)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced legal professional to teach the Fall 2026 course “Specialized Topics in Law 10: AI in Legal Practice” at McGill University’s Faculty of Law. The instructor will lead Wednesday and Friday sessions, guiding students through the impact of artificial intelligence on legal services.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures and facilitate discussions on AI tools used in legal research, drafting, document review, and litigation.
• Design and supervise hands‑on exercises, demonstrations, and applied assignments.
• Evaluate legal technology products and guide students in responsible use of AI‑assisted tools.
• Assess the risks and ethical considerations associated with AI in Canadian legal practice.

Required profile

• A first degree in law (LL.B. or J.D.) with several years of significant legal practice or professional experience.
• Experience teaching undergraduate law students in a bilingual setting.
• Understanding of AI, generative AI, document automation, and workflow tools as applied to law.

Required skills

• Knowledge of legal technologies and AI applications in the legal field.
• Ability to design technology‑enabled solutions for common legal problems.
