Industrial Millwright - Shingle Plant Maintenance

About the role

IKO Industries Ltd., a manufacturer of roofing and building materials, is hiring an industrial millwright for its shingle plant in Brampton, Ontario. The position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and keeps production and quality running by maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment. The plant reopened in 2021.

Key responsibilities

• Complete preventive maintenance on pumps, gearboxes, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems and other production machinery.
• Locate problems by observing devices in operation, listening and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
• Dismantle devices with hoists, cranes and hand and power tools, remove defective parts and inspect them with rules, calipers and micrometers.
• Adjust functional parts and control instruments with hand tools, levels and straightedges.
• Fabricate repair parts with machine shop equipment, cut and weld metal, and assemble new equipment.
• Clean, lubricate and adjust parts, equipment and machinery.
• Prepare maintenance reports, record parts and materials used, and order or create requisitions for new parts.
• Assist with planning and closing work orders in Maximo, and document actions, irregularities and continuing needs.
• Maintain a safe and clean workplace in line with procedures and regulations.

Required profile

• Valid Ontario Industrial Mechanic License 433A (Red Seal Certificate of Qualifications).
• At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Able to read mechanical drawings.
• Able to work shifts, some extended hours and weekends, and to lift and move up to 50 pounds routinely.
• Able to work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Interpersonal, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Required skills

• Full set of metric standard tools.
• Experience with mechanical devices, pneumatic controls and welding/cutting.
• Use of measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
