About the role
The Human Resources Generalist supports daily HR operations, handling recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, claims management, training and compliance with legislation. The role provides guidance on employment law, company policies and procedures.
Key responsibilities
- Advise managers on employee relations, policy interpretation and legislative compliance.
- Support employees on HR topics such as compensation, benefits, vacation and leave requests.
- Manage full‑cycle recruitment: post jobs, screen candidates, interview, make hiring recommendations, prepare offers and onboard new hires.
- Oversee claims management including short‑term disability, long‑term disability, WSIB and early return‑to‑work programs.
- Maintain accurate employee data in HRIS systems (Oracle, Workforce).
- Administer benefits programs, handling enrollments, terminations and premium remittances.
- Identify training needs and coordinate internal and external development activities.
- Plan and organize employee engagement initiatives to sustain morale.
- Participate in investigations, conduct disciplinary meetings, terminations and exit interviews while preserving confidentiality.
Required profile
- Degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration or equivalent.
- 2‑3 years of experience in an HR role.
- Working towards or holding a CHRP/CHRL designation is an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interpret employment legislation and apply it to business situations.
- Adaptability to changing priorities and evolving organizational needs.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Oracle HRIS.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
