Housekeeping Aide – Squamish Hospital

About the role

The Housekeeping Aide joins the Environmental Services team at Squamish Hospital, supporting a safe and respectful environment for patients, families, visitors and staff. Working under Vancouver Coastal Health’s values, the role focuses on thorough cleaning and disinfection of clinical and non‑clinical areas.

Key responsibilities

• Perform damp dusting, dry and wet mopping, and floor maintenance using appropriate equipment.
• Clean and disinfect ceilings, walls, vents, washrooms, beds, furniture and medical equipment.
• Collect and remove regular and biomedical waste in accordance with safety protocols.
• Respond to spills, perform spill clean‑up and maintain a hazard‑free environment.
• Make beds and ensure patient care areas remain orderly and sanitary.
• Support waste segregation, recycling, soiled linen handling and bio‑hazard disposal.
• Collaborate with infection‑control and patient‑care teams to uphold hygiene standards.

Required profile

• Grade 10 education or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Physical ability to perform cleaning duties and lift equipment safely.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues, patients and visitors.
• Strong organizational skills to manage workload and priorities.
• Capability to operate cleaning and waste‑handling equipment.
