Host Ambassador (Part‑time, Hybrid) – Nanaimo

About the role

The Host Ambassador supports the Canada Homestay Network Society by qualifying and growing the community of host families in the Nanaimo region. This permanent part‑time position blends in‑person visits, sales outreach, and administrative work to ensure families meet the organization’s standards of care.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct in‑person interviews and home visits for new hosts and revisits for existing hosts.
• Perform pre‑screening calls, enter data into the host database, and maintain accurate records.
• Complete annual host reviews and manage supporting documentation such as criminal record checks and host agreements.
• Respond to inquiries from prospective hosts and help the team meet monthly recruitment targets.
• Build and nurture a supportive local community for host families.

Required profile

• Strong interpersonal and sales skills with a relationship‑focused approach.
• Excellent communication, conflict‑resolution, and organizational abilities.
• Availability evenings and weekends, plus a valid driver’s licence, reliable vehicle, and high‑speed internet.
• Ability to travel to nearby towns and pass a criminal record check.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Excel.
• Proficiency with Word.
• Experience using Filemaker Pro.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Teams.
• Competence with email clients or webmail.
