Hospitalist – Full‑time or Part‑time

About the role

The Department of Surgery at The Ottawa Hospital is hiring Hospitalists to join multidisciplinary inpatient care teams across multiple surgical specialties. This position provides comprehensive medical care for hospitalized patients, focusing on coordination, discharge planning, and continuity of care.

Key responsibilities

• Provide inpatient medical management for patients on thoracic, vascular, general, and gynecologic oncology surgical services.
• Conduct daily rounds, coordinate investigations, consultations, and discharge planning.
• Collaborate closely with attending surgeons, residents, fellows, nursing staff, and allied health professionals.
• Support patient flow, quality‑improvement initiatives, and patient‑safety activities.
• Participate in teaching, mentorship, and academic activities as applicable.
• Optional clinical activities such as surgical assisting or on‑call duties, depending on divisional needs.

Required profile

• Independent licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
• CFPC or RCPSC designation.
• Interest in inpatient surgical care and ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
• Medical liability coverage through CMPA.
