Heavy‑Duty Equipment Mechanic

About the role

The City of Edmonton is looking for a Heavy‑Duty Equipment Mechanic to maintain, diagnose, and repair its fleet of heavy trucks and equipment. The role involves ensuring all equipment operates safely and meets manufacturer specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
• Diagnose issues using computerized and other testing equipment.
• Order parts, maintain inventory, and replace defective components.
• Adjust equipment, perform repairs, and test repaired units for proper performance.
• Complete maintenance reports and documentation.
• Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance on heavy trucks.

Required profile

• Registered Apprenticeship certificate or equivalent heavy‑equipment maintenance technology qualification.
• 3 to less than 5 years of experience in heavy‑equipment maintenance.
• Valid Class 3 or D driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Troubleshooting heavy equipment using computerized diagnostic tools.
• Performing repairs, adjustments, and part replacements on medium/heavy vehicles.
