Health, Safety & Environmental Coordinator

About the role

Broccolini is seeking a proactive Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Coordinator to support the well‑being of teams across construction sites in Cambridge, Ontario. Working closely with the HSE Supervisor, you will help foster a strong safety culture, implement safety protocols, and serve as the primary point of contact for all health and safety matters.

Key responsibilities

• Joint Health & Safety Committee: organize and lead meetings, coordinate inspections, investigate work refusals, and liaise with the Ministry of Labour as needed.
• Site Inspections: conduct regular workplace inspections, ensure corrective actions are completed, monitor air quality, and secure the site daily.
• Incident & Emergency Response: develop emergency and evacuation plans, provide first aid, investigate incidents, and recommend preventive measures.
• Training & Awareness: deliver site‑specific orientations, toolbox talks, and safety briefings to ensure all workers understand safe work practices.
• Administrative Support: manage permits, inspection reports, qualification tracking, safety boards, and compliance documentation.

Required profile

• Hold an NCSO designation or equivalent safety certification and experience.
• Degree or certificate in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in a similar construction‑industry role.
• Strong knowledge of construction safety legislation and best practices.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Calm under pressure and capable of influencing safe behavior.
• Valid driver’s licence with access to a vehicle.
• CPR/First Aid certification.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
