Health Safety Environment Coordinator

About the role

The Health Safety Environment (HSE) Coordinator will protect MGI employees and the public by ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and occupational health regulations on all project sites. This full‑time position works 40 hours per week, typically 9 am–5 pm, with minimal overtime.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct safety training for office staff, site workers, and subcontractors.
• Write safety proposals, interpret regulations, and develop training and inspection standards.
• Perform hazard assessments and ensure site‑specific health and safety requirements are met before and during project start‑up.
• Assist in obtaining and maintaining COR Certification™.
• Monitor safety compliance of workers and subcontractors through site inspections and corrective actions.
• Develop an annual HSE budget and manage procurement of PPE supplies.
• Resolve non‑compliance issues and implement emergency response, rescue, and evacuation plans.

Required profile

• Reliable transportation (G‑license) and transparent communication.
• Proficient knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Ontario Traffic Manual, and COR Internal Auditor standards.
• Attention to detail and experience with WCB legislation and claims management.
• Degree or equivalent education.
• Willingness to obtain or hold certifications such as JHSC Member.
