About the role
The Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager will lead the development, implementation and management of HSE programs for sewer and water construction projects across the Yukon. This field‑based role is seasonal, with on‑site visits during the May‑October construction period and program work in the off‑season.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and oversee comprehensive HSE programs tailored to sewer and water construction risks, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulations.
- Conduct regular job‑site inspections and hazard assessments, implementing corrective actions and monitoring their effectiveness.
- Plan and execute internal safety audits, prepare detailed reports, and present findings to senior management.
- Lead trench‑safety training, maintain compliance with excavation standards, and manage emergency response plans for trench incidents.
- Investigate accidents and near‑misses, perform root‑cause analysis, and drive corrective action plans.
- Maintain COR certification by coordinating with auditors and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Required profile
- Minimum 3 years of HSE management experience in construction, preferably on sewer and water projects.
- Extensive knowledge of trench safety regulations and COR certification processes.
- Post‑secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field (preferred).
- Strong leadership, communication and coaching abilities, with a focus on building a safety‑first culture.
- Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel to remote project sites.
