Health Care Lead – Registered Nurse (Full-time, Red Deer)

About the role

The Alberta Public Service is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse to serve as a Health Care Lead for assisted‑living homes in Red Deer. This permanent, full‑time position provides clinical leadership and direct nursing care for residents, supporting both on‑site operations at Michener Services and remote sites in Calgary and Edmonton.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development, implementation and ongoing update of comprehensive care plans in collaboration with physicians and allied health professionals.
• Provide clinical supervision, coaching and guidance to Health Care Aides, ensuring adherence to standards and best practices.
• Oversee infection‑prevention measures and coordinate outbreak management with public health authorities.
• Respond to medical emergencies, directing staff to ensure resident safety and effective intervention.
• Investigate medication errors, adverse events and other health‑related incidents, implementing corrective actions.
• Liaise with residents’ families, guardians, EMS and external partners to maintain continuity of care.

Required profile

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse in Alberta.
• Experience delivering nursing care in long‑term or assisted‑living settings.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and supervise support staff.
• Willingness to work the overnight shift (11 p.m. – 7 a.m.) on a 6‑on, 3‑off rotation.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with families, health agencies and emergency services.
