About the role
The Health Care Aide (HCA) provides direct personal care and health support services to clients across the lifespan, working under functional supervision of the nursing team. The role focuses on delivering assistance with activities of daily living, monitoring health status, and supporting the overall well‑being of clients in an acute care setting.
Key responsibilities
- Provide direct personal care and assistance with activities of daily living.
- Monitor and report changes in clients' health status.
- Support physical, emotional, psychosocial, and behavioural well‑being of clients.
- Ensure client comfort, engagement, and safety by recognizing and communicating changes.
- Promote comfort, dignity, and continuity of care.
- Demonstrate flexibility in responding to client and team needs.
- Participate in continuous improvement through feedback and learning.
Required profile
- Registered with a valid practice permit from the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) prior to start.
- Minimum four months of full‑time equivalent acute medicine experience in the past year.
- Competent English communication, with proof of proficiency if required.
