Health and Safety Specialist

About the role

Spark Power is seeking a Health and Safety Specialist. In this role you will be a key advocate for workplace safety, building strong relationships across teams, fostering collaboration, and promoting a positive safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain HSE programs in compliance with applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Conduct regular workplace inspections and audits to identify hazards, monitor effectiveness, and ensure compliance with regulatory, company and client standards.
• Lead investigations of incidents, determine root causes, and develop corrective actions.
• Work closely with Operations leadership to develop, implement, and maintain HSE programs that support safe, efficient, and compliant work practices.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of health and safety programs and implement necessary modifications to ensure ongoing compliance and effectiveness.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation for health and safety incidents, inspections, and training activities.

Required profile

• Minimum NCSO designation with 3–5 years of related experience in construction or electrical work.
• Certified Internal IHSA COR Auditor.
• Experience managing third‑party prequalification systems such as ISNetworld, Avetta, or ComplyWorks.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Experience managing day‑to‑day operations and coordinating small to medium‑sized projects.
• Skilled in developing and reviewing Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs) and Safe Work Procedures (SWPs).
