GRAIN Project Manager – Research Infrastructure

About the role
The University of British Columbia seeks a Project Manager to lead the Canadian Gravitational-wave Astrophysics Infrastructure Network (GRAIN). This multi‑million‑dollar initiative will develop detector hardware and computing infrastructure for current and future gravitational‑wave observatories.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee technical and budgetary performance of the GRAIN project in partnership with the GRAIN Science Board and institutional partners.
- Coordinate activities of hardware and computing leads, including those at the Digital Research Alliance of Canada and the Canadian Astronomy Data Centre.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, milestones, critical paths, and deliverables.
- Manage the project budget, facilitate purchasing, hiring, and day‑to‑day project activities.
- Ensure compliance with institutional, provincial, and national reporting requirements.
- Interpret policies and procedures to make independent decisions and produce management reports.
Required profile
- Experience managing large, multi‑institutional scientific or technical projects.
- Strong understanding of research infrastructure and funding agency requirements.
- Ability to work collaboratively with academic and industry partners across Canada.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
