Global Trade Director – Defence & Security

About the role

We are seeking a senior Global Trade Director for Defence & Security to lead the creation of export opportunities for Canadian companies in the defence and security sectors. Based in Ottawa (or one of our community hubs) you will work within a hybrid environment to expand Canada’s presence in global supply chains.

Key responsibilities

• Leverage an extensive international network to identify and develop new export business opportunities.
• Collaborate with the Global Business Development team and key buyers to match Canadian capabilities with market demand.
• Drive business development initiatives across defence and security markets worldwide.
• Provide strategic guidance on Canadian supply‑chain strengths and global market trends.
• Represent EDC in high‑level stakeholder engagements and industry events.

Required profile

• Proven experience in international business development, preferably within defence or security sectors.
• Deep understanding of Canadian export capabilities and global supply‑chain dynamics.
• Strong professional network across key international markets.
• Ability to work independently and lead cross‑functional teams.

• Competitive salary ranging from $112,006 to $160,000 CAD per year plus performance incentives.
