General Manager (12-Month Contract)

About the role

Indigo is hiring a General Manager for a 12-month contract at its Nelson store. The role cultivates an environment of authentic employee and customer experiences, guided by the company's culture and mission, and helps build a high-performing store focused on sales and profit goals. Key performance measures include employee engagement, Net Promoter Score, sales to plan and store profit.

Key responsibilities

• Support and empower the team to make decisions, develop a high-performing leadership team and build internal talent
• Provide consistent feedback to employees and own your own development, giving continuous feedback to the Regional Director
• Act as a cultural ambassador: role model Indigo's high-performance characteristics, represent the brand and promote a storytelling culture
• Cultivate trust, encourage entrepreneurship within brand standards and put health and safety first
• Respond to customer feedback in a timely manner
• Align with the Regional Director on store goals, meet and exceed sales plans, manage budgets and cost centres and hold the team accountable for operational excellence
• Keep the visual experience aligned with brand standards and optimize staff schedules
• Engage in community-based marketing and events

Required profile

• College degree preferred or equivalent job experience
• 3+ years of management experience in a retail environment, including leading leaders
• Ability to stay on the sales floor for long periods
• Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays
• Able to lift up to 40 pounds with proper equipment and safety techniques
• Bilingualism in French and English is required for all positions in Québec
