Full‑time Accountant – Dar es Salaam

About the role

The International School of Tanganyika is seeking a qualified Accountant to join its finance team. The role involves maintaining accurate financial records, supporting budgeting and cash‑flow management, and ensuring compliance with Tanzanian tax and payroll regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain ledger accounts to trial‑balance level and prepare quarterly financial reports.
• Process revenue and purchase invoices, follow up on payments, and perform monthly bank reconciliations.
• Oversee weekly cash and cheque banking, prepare cash‑flow forecasts and budgets.
• Process payroll accurately, adhering to PAYE, pension schemes and related legislation.
• Assist in drafting accounts, preparing VAT returns and liaising with external auditors.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years experience as an accountant, preferably in an educational setting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or Finance.
• Professional certification such as CPA or ACCA.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, cost control and Tanzanian tax regulations.
