Forklift Mechanic

About the role

Manitoulin Transport, which has provided transportation and logistics solutions across North America for 65 years, is hiring a full-time Forklift Mechanic in Mississauga. The role covers assessing the condition of forklifts and trucks, diagnosing faults and carrying out preventative maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Assess the overall operational integrity and condition of forklifts and trucks
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults and communicate repair solutions clearly
• Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance
• Order parts using technical manuals and diagnostic tools
• Document and analyze breakdowns following standard procedures

Required profile

• High school completion or equivalent, and 3-5 years' experience as a mechanical technician
• Current forklift licence and G driver licence
• Able to work independently, manage your own jobs and train apprentices if required
• Honest, reliable and proud of your workmanship

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems (battery and propane engine-powered equipment)
• Confident use of hand tools, measuring devices and electronic diagnostic tools
• Experience with industrial equipment, lifting/rigging and machinery installation
• Ability to read electrical schematics and technical procedures
