First Cook – Rotational Position on MV Saga X

About the role

The First Cook will work on the MV Saga X, a floatel vessel operating out of Squamish, BC. This is a rotational, full‑time role (28 days on, 14 days off) with an hourly wage and extended health benefits. You will report to the Sous Chef and help deliver high‑volume meals for crew and residents.

Key responsibilities

• Execute daily food production, prep, ingredient pull and tempering lists according to recipe and yield guidelines.
• Prepare proteins, sauces, starches and vegetable dishes in large quantities, ensuring proper cooking, portioning and presentation.
• Produce high‑volume line and batch cooking for buffets and Grab & Go stations without interruption.
• Oversee Second and Third Cooks on shift, ensuring tasks meet quality and food‑safety standards.
• Maintain food‑safety logs, assist with ordering, receiving and rotating stock, and report production levels and shortages.

Required profile

• Culinary diploma or equivalent work experience.
• Foodsafe Level I (required) and Level II (preferred).
• Minimum 2 years progressive experience as a First Cook in high‑volume production or banquet/accommodation kitchens.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays on a rotational basis.
• Pass pre‑employment drug & alcohol screen, marine medical exam and physical‑demand assessment.

• MED Domestic Vessel Safety Certificate (to be obtained within 6 months)
• Crowd and Crisis Management certificate (to be obtained within 6 months)
