Fire Chief – Lead Municipal Fire Services

About the role

The City of Temiskaming Shores is seeking a forward‑thinking Fire Chief to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of its municipal Fire Department. This senior position will guide fire suppression, emergency response, fire prevention, public education, training, and departmental administration.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and prioritize departmental goals, policies, and procedures aligned with council direction.
• Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, municipal partners, and emergency service organizations.
• Lead recruitment, training, development, and performance management of staff and volunteer firefighters.
• Develop long‑term strategies to support service excellence, community safety, and organizational growth.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, regulations, and industry standards.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary education in Fire Protection Technology, Emergency Management or a related field.
• Minimum five years of progressive leadership experience in fire services, emergency management or public administration.
• Experience in a composite or volunteer fire service is an asset.
• NFPA standard certifications preferred.
• Valid First Aid/CPR certification.
• Valid Class “DZ” Ontario driver’s licence preferred.
• Bilingualism considered an asset.
