Fire Alarm Technician

About the role

We are seeking a Fire Alarm Technician to join our fire and life‑safety team in Ottawa. The role involves inspecting, troubleshooting, servicing, and upgrading fire alarm systems for commercial and industrial clients.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, service, and troubleshoot existing fire alarm systems.
• Perform upgrades, repairs, additions, and system improvements after inspections.
• Respond to service calls and on‑call assignments as required.
• Prepare detailed inspection, verification, and deficiency reports.
• Maintain company equipment, tools, and vehicles.
• Communicate professionally with clients, contractors, authorities, and internal teams.

Required profile

• Legally authorized to work in Canada with a valid SIN.
• Valid driver’s licence and at least three years of driving experience.
• Willingness to travel, work after hours, weekends and participate in a rotating on‑call schedule.
• Detail‑oriented, safety‑driven and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Required skills

• CFAA Certification or Journeyman Electrician status.
• Knowledge of CAN/ULC standards as they apply to fire alarm systems.
• Experience programming fire alarm panels.
• Ability to read and interpret design drawings.
• Strong technical knowledge of fire alarm system design and construction.
