Financial Controller

About the role

UP Vertical Farms is seeking a detail‑oriented Financial Controller to lead its finance function. Based in Pitt Meadows, BC, you will manage all aspects of accounting, reporting, and tax compliance for a fast‑growing indoor agriculture company.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee full‑cycle accounting including AP/AR, payroll, general ledger, month‑end and year‑end close, and multi‑entity bookkeeping.
• Prepare financial statements, trial balances, budgets, forecasts, KPIs and management reports.
• Maintain accurate balance‑sheet, inventory and fixed‑asset accounts.
• Build dashboards to track production, sales and wholesale performance.
• Ensure timely GST/HST, payroll and corporate tax filings and overall regulatory compliance.
• Manage vendor invoices, reconciliations, collections and payment tracking systems.
• Monitor staff and contractor expenses, fuel cards, per diems and benefit invoices.
• Process and reconcile payroll, deductions, benefits, severance and final pay.
• Prepare year‑end reporting (T4/T4A/RL‑1/W‑2/W‑3) and ROEs.

Required profile

• Proven experience in full‑cycle accounting and financial reporting.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian tax regulations (GST/HST, payroll, corporate tax).
• Ability to manage multi‑entity bookkeeping and complex month‑end close processes.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
