Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead financial operations across multiple international entities in Canada. The role combines technical finance expertise with the opportunity to support mission‑driven projects that address societal and digital challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Lead short‑ and medium‑term cash forecasting to support planning and decision‑making.
• Oversee multi‑currency financial consolidation for entities operating in several regions.
• Prepare and analyse profitability reports, variance analyses, management accounts and key performance metrics.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure grant and contract compliance, accurate billing and margin reporting.
• Support the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports for leadership and external partners.
• Coordinate annual audit activities and ensure timely completion of audit requirements.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including reconciliations and supplier reviews.
• Work with external payroll providers to process payroll across multiple jurisdictions.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, statutory filings and sales‑tax obligations.
• Investigate financial inconsistencies and implement process improvements to strengthen controls.
• Provide guidance and line‑management support to junior finance team members.

Required profile

• CPA qualification or equivalent professional accounting certification (e.g., ACCA).
• Proven experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role.
• Strong expertise in financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting and risk analysis.
• Experience managing international or multi‑entity financial operations (highly desirable).
• Advanced proficiency with Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel or similar analysis tools.
• Excellent attention to detail, organisational and time‑management skills.
• Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
• Proactive mindset.
