Field Operation Assistant (Part‑time, Seasonal)

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Field Operation Assistant to support daily activities at the Macdonald Campus Farm/Horticulture Centre. This part‑time, seasonal role involves hands‑on work in horticulture, from land preparation to harvesting and sales.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare soil, pick rocks, seed, transplant and prune plants.
• Operate basic farm equipment, including tractors and hand tools.
• Harvest fruits and vegetables and assist with sales at the Mac Market counter.
• Collect data from research plots and maintain accurate records.
• Perform additional tasks assigned by the Chief Horticulture Technician.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Authorization to work in Canada and willingness to work in Quebec.
• Basic English communication skills (level 2 of 0‑4).
• Driver’s licence is an asset.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of horticultural practices.
• Experience with manual and light mechanised farm tools.
