Facilities Custodian

About the role

As a Facilities Custodian you will ensure SMG’s offices, production areas, warehouse and shared spaces are clean, safe and well‑organized, supporting a professional environment for all employees.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning, deep cleaning and sanitation of offices, washrooms, lunchrooms, production and warehouse areas.
• Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies, manage inventory and report replenishment needs.
• Collect and dispose of waste, recycling and maintain tidy collection areas.
• Assist with setup and cleanup for meetings and company events.
• Identify and report maintenance issues, spills, leaks, pest activity and safety hazards.
• Operate, inspect and store custodial equipment and tools safely.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent with at least two years of custodial or commercial cleaning experience.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities and maintain consistent cleaning standards.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining clean facilities.
• Clear communication skills for reporting maintenance and supply needs.
• Physical ability to lift 25 lb, bend, crouch and stand for extended periods.
• Valid Manitoba Class 5 driver’s licence and willingness to travel between facilities.

Required skills

• Knowledge of safe cleaning practices, WHMIS, SDS and proper use of PPE.
