External Audit, Senior Associate

About the role

PwC Canada is hiring an External Audit Senior Associate in Winnipeg. The role sits in the Assurance line of service and involves delivering assurance services and business advice to clients ranging from small, fast-growing companies to large, internationally active entities. It follows the departure of a valued team member and ensures continuity while upholding the firm's standards.

Key responsibilities

• Work in client-facing teams supporting the development of the audit approach and completing planning procedures
• Coach and give feedback to junior members of the engagement team
• Review financial and accounting records, documents and tangible items such as inventory, plant and equipment, and observe processes
• Ask formal written and informal oral questions with individuals at the client organization
• Test internal controls and assess significant estimates, judgments or assumptions made by management
• Verify and test financial statements and supporting disclosures, and perform completion procedures to support the audit report

Required profile

• Demonstrated progressive experience at Senior Associate level with external audit clients in a professional services firm
• Qualified Canadian CPA or an equivalent reciprocal or recognized designation
• Excellent understanding of Canadian auditing standards; knowledge of US auditing standards and/or PCAOB is also considered
• Knowledge of IFRS and/or ASPE, US GAAP is an asset
• Previous experience coaching and leading engagement teams, and project management experience

• Thorough technical skills regarding accounting reporting and auditing standards
• Design of engagement procedures based on risk and materiality
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills in a team environment

The salary range is $52,200 - $87,000, reflecting the expected hiring range for PwC locations in major city centres; ranges may vary by location. Eligible employees may also take part in variable incentive pay programs.
