About the role

The Executive Director leads the Kamloops Central Business Improvement Association, a member‑driven organization dedicated to strengthening the economic vitality and livability of downtown Kamloops. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the role combines strategic vision with hands‑on execution to drive downtown revitalisation, business attraction and community engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Shape and advance the long‑term vision and priorities of the association, translating the Board‑approved strategic plan into actionable initiatives.
• Oversee day‑to‑day operations, ensuring effective delivery of programs, events, promotions and district improvement projects.
• Lead a small team of staff, consultants, contractors and volunteers, fostering a high‑performance, accountable culture.
• Provide financial stewardship, including budgeting, reporting and resource allocation.
• Engage with business owners, municipal partners, community stakeholders and members to build strong relationships and advocate for downtown interests.
• Monitor emerging economic, regulatory and social trends, delivering analysis and recommendations to the Board.
• Support governance processes, preparing Board materials and ensuring compliance with policies.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in business improvement, economic development or a comparable community‑focused sector.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, staff and volunteer resources.
• Strong relationship‑building and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Strategic thinker with a service‑oriented mindset and high integrity.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
