About the role
We are looking for an Ethnic Food Cook to join Swagat Restaurant in Surrey, BC. The role focuses on preparing South Indian, East Indian and vegetarian dishes for a diverse clientele, including guests with dietary restrictions.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and cook complete meals, individual dishes, and special meals for customers with allergies or specific dietary needs.
- Inspect kitchens and food service areas to ensure hygiene standards and maintain cleanliness.
- Order supplies and equipment, maintain inventory records, and supervise kitchen staff and helpers.
- Train staff on food preparation, cooking techniques, and safe handling practices.
- Organize buffets and banquets and ensure compliance with food safety standards.
Required profile
- 1‑2 years of experience cooking South or East Indian cuisine.
- No formal culinary degree required.
- Dependable, flexible and organized with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, handle heavy loads and stand for extended periods.
