Environmental Technician

About the role

Elk Valley Resources is seeking an Environmental Technician to support its mining operations in the Elk Valley of British Columbia. The role focuses on sampling, monitoring, and data management to ensure compliance with environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies.
• Support broad‑based sampling and monitoring programs, collecting chemical, physical and biological tests (water, biota, sediment).
• Apply quality control and quality assurance protocols to monitoring activities.
• Maintain, repair, and calibrate monitoring and sample‑collection equipment and instrumentation.
• Enter, review, and manage environmental data.
• Participate in field investigations and inspections.
• Coordinate contractor activities to ensure safe and compliant work.
• Supervise and monitor environmental projects such as remediation and pollution‑control infrastructure maintenance.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Technology, Biology, Geography, Forestry, Agriculture or a related field.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence (or equivalent).
• Experience in environmental compliance or monitoring within the resource industry.
• Knowledge of relevant environmental regulations, standards and industry best practices.
• Willingness to complete a pre‑employment drug screen and provide professional references.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
