Environmental Field Technician and Inspector

About the role
The Environmental Field Technician and Inspector supports the Construction and Restoration Services team by performing erosion and sediment control inspections, restoration design construction inspections, and monitoring implementation of designs at both local and remote sites, including watercourses, wetlands, and shoreline protection projects. The role involves frequent travel to remote mine sites in Northern Ontario.
Key responsibilities
- Support construction supervision at remote Northern Ontario mine sites.
- Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with design drawings, contract documents, and permit conditions.
- Review quality control, verify quantities, prepare progress reports, and maintain documentation and photographic records.
- Assist with water quality and environmental monitoring and attend construction progress meetings.
- Identify and resolve construction issues in collaboration with contract administrators and project managers.
- Document environmental concerns, deficiencies, and non‑compliance issues.
- Provide technical support for data analysis and report preparation.
- Manage workload across multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail.
- Collaborate with colleagues, clients, consulting partners, and permitting agencies.
Required profile
- Degree or diploma in environmental science, water/earth resources, geology, geography, environmental or civil engineering, or a related field.
- Certification as a Canadian Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CAN‑CISEC) or ability to complete required training.
- Experience with erosion and sediment control measures, reporting deficiencies, and effluent containment during construction.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Willingness to travel regularly to remote sites in Northern Ontario.

What we offer
- Competitive hourly wage ranging from $26.00 to $32.00 (CAD) per hour.
