About the role
Alignerr is seeking experienced environmental engineers to train and evaluate cutting‑edge AI models that address complex water, air, and waste challenges. You will work remotely on a flexible schedule, creating high‑quality reference solutions and ensuring AI outputs meet rigorous scientific and regulatory standards.
Key responsibilities
- Design advanced technical problems covering contaminant transport, mass‑balance calculations, hydrology, and life‑cycle assessments.
- Author gold‑standard, step‑by‑step solutions including chemical dosage, hydraulic flow, and pollutant dispersion models.
- Audit AI‑generated remediation plans, impact statements, and regulatory analyses for technical accuracy and compliance with EPA and ISO 14001 standards.
- Identify logical flaws in model reasoning and provide structured feedback to improve AI performance.
- Stress‑test models with edge cases and domain‑specific challenges to expose weaknesses.
Required profile
- Master’s or PhD in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering with an environmental focus, or a closely related discipline.
- Strong knowledge in at least one core area such as aquatic chemistry, wastewater process design, air‑quality engineering, or hazardous‑waste remediation.
- Excellent written communication and meticulous attention to unit conversions, chemical equations, and regulatory logic.
- Self‑motivated, able to work independently on an asynchronous schedule.
Required skills
- Experience with data annotation, data quality, or technical evaluation workflows.
- Familiarity with environmental modeling software such as AERMOD, SWMM, or other EPA tools.
