Environmental Engineering – AI Data Trainer

About the role

Alignerr is seeking experienced environmental engineers to train and evaluate cutting‑edge AI models that address complex water, air, and waste challenges. You will work remotely on a flexible schedule, creating high‑quality reference solutions and ensuring AI outputs meet rigorous scientific and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design advanced technical problems covering contaminant transport, mass‑balance calculations, hydrology, and life‑cycle assessments.
• Author gold‑standard, step‑by‑step solutions including chemical dosage, hydraulic flow, and pollutant dispersion models.
• Audit AI‑generated remediation plans, impact statements, and regulatory analyses for technical accuracy and compliance with EPA and ISO 14001 standards.
• Identify logical flaws in model reasoning and provide structured feedback to improve AI performance.
• Stress‑test models with edge cases and domain‑specific challenges to expose weaknesses.

Required profile

• Master’s or PhD in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering with an environmental focus, or a closely related discipline.
• Strong knowledge in at least one core area such as aquatic chemistry, wastewater process design, air‑quality engineering, or hazardous‑waste remediation.
• Excellent written communication and meticulous attention to unit conversions, chemical equations, and regulatory logic.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently on an asynchronous schedule.

Required skills

• Experience with data annotation, data quality, or technical evaluation workflows.
• Familiarity with environmental modeling software such as AERMOD, SWMM, or other EPA tools.
