Manager, Lands

About the role

The Manager, Lands leads the planning, management and delivery of land‑based natural resource programs for the Department of nism̓aakukqinʔaała Lands and Resources. Reporting to the Director, the role ensures programs align with Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ laws, Treaty obligations and cultural values while providing operational oversight and field leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day leadership and supervision to the Lands program team, including recruitment, performance management and professional development.
• Oversee program operations, develop work plans, set service standards and monitor performance against targets.
• Manage program budgets, approve expenditures, prepare funding proposals and ensure financial sustainability.
• Develop and implement policies, procedures and long‑term land‑use plans that reflect Indigenous knowledge and treaty commitments.
• Represent Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ Government in external meetings, negotiate agreements and maintain relationships with federal, provincial and regional partners.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Land Use Planning, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Public Administration or related field.
• Minimum five years of progressive land and resource program management experience, including at least two years of supervisory responsibility.
• Demonstrated experience with budget management, funding agreements and Indigenous land‑rights legislation.
• Current Class 5 BC driver’s licence and reliable vehicle.
