Emergency Medicine Physician – Williams Lake, BC

About the role

Join the collegial emergency medicine team at Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake, BC. You will work in a 24/7 emergency department that sees roughly 22,000 patient visits annually, providing a diverse mix of cases and procedural opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and manage acute medical emergencies in a busy ED.
• Collaborate with specialists in internal medicine, obstetrics & gynecology, general surgery, pediatrics, and psychiatry.
• Teach and mentor medical students and residents through the UBC Faculty of Medicine’s rural teaching program.
• Participate in leadership development programs such as Interior Health’s NAVIG8 Emerging Physician Leaders Program.
• Contribute to the expansion and redevelopment of the hospital’s emergency department and related services.

Required profile

• Current CCFP, CCFP (EM), or FRCPC certification in Emergency Medicine.
• Eligibility to practice in Canada.
• Emergency medicine experience is an asset, but mentorship is available for new graduates and international medical graduates.

• Clinical emergency care and procedural competence.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
