Emergency Medicine Physician – Williams Lake, BC

About the role

Join a collegial emergency medicine team at Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake, BC. The 24/7 emergency department sees roughly 22,000 visits annually and offers a diverse case mix with many procedural opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide acute care to patients presenting to the emergency department, managing a broad spectrum of medical, surgical, obstetric, paediatric and psychiatric emergencies.
• Collaborate with specialists in internal medicine, obstetrics & gynecology, general surgery, pediatrics and psychiatry.
• Teach and mentor medical students and residents through the UBC Faculty of Medicine’s rural teaching program.
• Participate in leadership development programs such as Interior Health’s NAVIG8 Emerging Physician Leaders Program.

Required profile

• Eligibility to practice emergency medicine in Canada (CCFP, CCFP‑EM or FRCPC in Emergency Medicine).
• Graduates of Canadian or international medical schools, with or without prior emergency department experience.
• Commitment to serving a rural community and willingness to engage in mentorship and teaching.

Required skills

• Clinical competence in emergency medicine, including assessment, resuscitation and procedural skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
