Emergency Medicine Physician (Part‑time / Full‑time)

About the role

This Hospital is seeking qualified Emergency Medicine Physicians for part‑time and full‑time positions in Port Alberni, with the option to cover occasional shifts at the regional Emergency Department in Nanaimo. The role starts as soon as possible and offers academic affiliation with UBC postgraduate and Island Medical School undergraduate programs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 24‑hour emergency care to a diverse patient population.
• Collaborate with a wide range of clinical specialists, including anesthesiology, surgery, psychiatry, and radiology.
• Interpret medical imaging, including CT scans and PACS data.
• Participate in teaching activities linked to UBC and Island Medical School.
• Occasionally cover shifts at the Nanaimo regional Emergency Department.

Required profile

• Board‑certified or eligible in Emergency Medicine.
• CPSBC USA‑certified registration acceptable.
• Willingness to work in a community hospital setting.
• Ability to start immediately.

Required skills

• CT scanner operation and interpretation.
• Proficiency with PACS imaging system.

• Retention premium of 7.98% and a flat retention fee of $9,186.
