Emergency Medicine Physician – Kelowna General Hospital

About the role

Join a vibrant, collegial Emergency Department at Kelowna General Hospital, a tertiary referral centre serving over 100,000 annual ED visits. You will provide high‑quality emergency care in a community‑hospital atmosphere while benefiting from state‑of‑the‑art facilities and a supportive team.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and manage a broad spectrum of emergency presentations, including trauma, cardiac emergencies, and complex medical cases.
• Participate in Level 2 Trauma Centre activations and stroke referrals, ensuring timely, evidence‑based interventions.
• Collaborate with consultants and specialists, often on a first‑name basis, to coordinate patient care.
• Contribute to teaching activities such as bedside instruction, simulation sessions, Grand Rounds, and journal clubs.
• Engage in departmental quality improvement and mentorship of junior staff.

Required profile

• Board‑certified or eligible in Emergency Medicine (FRCPC or equivalent).
• Commitment to teamwork, mentorship, and a collegial work environment.
• Interest in academic medicine and teaching opportunities.
• Willingness to work onsite in Kelowna, BC.

Required skills

• Proficiency in emergency clinical assessment and management.
• Experience with trauma resuscitation and cardiac critical care pathways.
• Ability to perform point‑of‑care ultrasound and interpret results.
