Emergency Department Physician – Full‑Time, Part‑Time or Locum

About the role

Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Fergus, ON is seeking Emergency Department Physicians to join its busy ED. The position can be full‑time, part‑time or locum, offering flexible scheduling to deliver acute care to 60‑80 patients daily in a supportive rural setting.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and treat emergency patients across all ages.
• Collaborate with on‑site consultants in anesthesia, surgery, internal medicine and gynecology.
• Order and interpret X‑ray, ultrasound, laboratory and CT imaging.
• Document care using electronic charting (PatientKeeper) integrated with Meditech and PACS.
• Provide on‑call coverage and participate in mentorship and teaching activities.

Required profile

• Valid CPSO number and OHIP billing number.
• Comfortable with rural emergency medicine; FRCP/CCFP‑EM not required.
• Current ACLS and ATLS certification (NRP/PALS encouraged).
• No participation in the ED Mentorship Program in the past year.

Required skills

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – preferred.
• Proficiency with electronic charting (PatientKeeper) and order entry systems (Meditech, PACS).
• Familiarity with X‑ray, ultrasound, laboratory and CT imaging workflows.
